Bishop Michael Lee Graves (1946-2004) was the founding pastor of the Temple Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He pastored this congregation for twenty-seven years until his death. The Temple Church grew from two members to over 3,000. It was named one of Americas 300 outstanding Protestant churches in a nationwide study funded by the Lilly Endowment.
He was an evangelist, writer, counselor, consultant and facilitator. Dr. Graves served as Publications Director for the National Baptist Publishing Board and was a member of the Commission on Evangelism of the World Alliance, as well as the American Association of Christian Counselors. He held a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. In November, 2001, The Temple Church unanimously voted to elevate Dr. Graves to Bishop. He was consecrated as Bishop with apostolic succession in August 2002. Another notable achievement was his election to the prestigious Morehouse School of Preachers at Morehouse College, Atlanta Georgia.
Dr. Graves shared the positive message of hope and encouragement to thousands worldwide. In his sermonic deliveries, the Word of God shook ones consciousness, awakened sleeping giants of idleness and apathy and challenged hypocrisy. The purpose of this app is to make Bishop Graves sermons of hope and encouragement available to mobile phone users for their enrichment.
